Elton John has had enough.
After Harry and Meghan were attacked for taking a private plane to Nice, the family friend of the late Princess Diana took to social media to set the record straight.

The Rocketman, Elton John, has always been close to the royal family.

Despite having a brief falling out, he always considered the late Princess Diana a great friend.
He even performed "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral in 1997.
Since her passing, he's kept an eye out on her children, William and Harry, as they've grown up.

Elton even performed at Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding reception in May 2018.
The three of them also briefly met on the red carpet at the London premiere of "The Lion King".

So, basically, he's like part of the fam.
This means that he's not afraid to defend the couple when the British media are relentlessly attacking them.

That's the latest situation going on now as the media has slammed Harry and Meghan for going on vacation in a private plane, despite being focused on protecting the environment.
The backlash had led to posts like this:
This was the headline from the Daily Mail: "New pictures show Meghan Markle and Prince Harry taking their FOURTH gas-guzzling flight in just 11 days."
The British media has also been called out for racism.
In the past couple months alone, Meghan has been attacked in headlines for practically every move she makes, like not having her photo taken at Wimbledon.
People even began criticizing the way Meghan cradled Archie off the plane.
This isn't the first time she's been criticized for how she held him.
This summer, people were shaming the new mom for the "awkward" way she was holding him at Harry's charity polo match.
With this new scandal of people attacking them for taking a private plane to Nice, Elton has had enough.

He took to social media to set the record straight.
"I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week," he began.

"Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends."
He continued:

"I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death."
"After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home."

"To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™."

Even Ellen DeGeneres defended the couple by posting on Twitter.
Her comment was met with more attacks on the couple, as someone wrote, "Sure 3x Private Jet trips within weeks for a private holiday will truly save the planet. Where are your values? #Hypocrisy."
This all proves how quick the media — and trolls — are to judge the couple without knowing the full story.
The full story being that they were focused on the environment when taking Elton's private plane.
While we can't say whether Elton's post will do much to tame the attacks on the couple, all we can do is hope it does.
