The Met Gala has to be the most interesting event of the year, as far as outfits go. People really go all out.
But over the years it has become, essentially, a contest of who can dress the most bizarre or over the top, while remaining tightly in the grasps of what is considered to be high fashion.
While some celebs take a rather tame approach — dressing in simple dresses and tuxedos that barely touch the theme, others go to much more extreme lengths.
In the past, she has made sure that her outfits had paparazzi, as well as other celebs, breaking their necks to catch a glimpse.
As I said, Katy does not hold back when it comes to dressing up for the Met Gala.
Celebs were swapping costumes, in some cases more than once, throughout the evening.
Katy started out in this 40-pound chandelier ensemble. She literally lit up the room.
For Katy's second look of the night, she dressed up in a giant, sparkly, hamburger costume — reminiscent of a fever-dream.
"First we set the table, and then we dine," she wrote.
It was Jennifer Lopez accidentally walking in on her changing into it.
I've personally never walked into a washroom and caught somebody becoming a hamburger before. But I can only imagine that it's the last thing you'd ever expect to see.
Internally she was probably saying "WTF".
But on the outside, she brushed it off — totally nonchalant.
Many felt like Jennifer Lopez blowing past Katy Perry awkwardly squeezing herself into a hamburger costume was totally relatable and a perfect example of "there are two kinds of people in this world".
The natural first instinct when you see someone stuffing themselves into a hamburger costume is probably to pretend you don't know them, right?
Regrettably, I relate to this.
Surely, J-Lo didn't mean to have "sass" written all over her face. Maybe she just wasn't happy about a stranger filming her in the bathroom — understandably.
This basically sums up their entire encounter, almost too perfectly.
