What is your cat's favorite toy? Just kidding, I don't need to ask. We all know it's the packaging that the toys you buy them come in.
Cats just love garbage. And boxes. So designer Gentry at The Green Mad House decided to put her incredible skills to use to build her cats the ultimate home — out of boxes.
She's a designer based out of Seattle, Washington. In February of 2020, she decided to launch her DIY and lifestyle blog, the Green Mad House.
The blog was an immediate hit, and so were the cats she featured on it!
Speaking of cats, meet the cute twosome that is Huckleberry and Floyd!
They're so adorable that they actually have their own Instagram, @huckleberryandfloyd. And they are fluffy af, let me tell you.
She wanted it to be mid-century style, and I am so about that choice. Mid-century is having a major trend moment right now!
Gentry gathered together two sturdy boxes to kick her project off.
She provided the blueprints on her website for free! What a gem.
As you can see, the cat house is totally mid-century. That slanted roof is just begging for a cat butt.
She stripped away any labels or tape that were stuck to the boxes. Then, using a ruler and a sharpie, she mapped out every cut she'd need to make!
Including only cutting the roof once and then bending it over and tracing that slope to ensure it matched on the other side!
She also recommended scouring and bending cardboard so that you don't have to do as much assembling.
You're going to need a lot of tape and glue to make this happen, but it will be worth it! That house already looks amazing, and it's not even painted yet.
How great does that look? And it's all cardboard! She even included a corrugated floor, which I think we all know cats love to claw at.
"Huckleberry has slept in it all day while I have been working and Floyd put his catnip banana inside so it has gotten the Cat Seal of Approval," she wrote on her blog.
