Cell Phone Footage Shows 9th Explosion In Sri Lanka Day After Massive Attack

Another explosion occurred this morning in Sri Lanka, as the island country is reeling from a series of bombings at Christian churches on Sunday that has killed nearly 300 people and injured 500.

There was no word on whether anyone was injured or how big the blast was.

Today's Bomb Went Off In Colombo

The bomb exploded in Colombo on Monday as another bomb was getting defused near a bomb site. There are reports this was the ninth explosion since Sunday.

Churches, Hotels Targeted On Easter

Most of the explosions occurred Easter morning in several churches, including Colombo, Negombo, Batticaloa and St. Anthony's Shrine. The Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, and other sites were targeted as well.

BBC: Jihadist Group To Blame

Officials say these were all carried out by suicide bombers. The Sri Lankan government says the jihadist group called National Thowheed Jamath is to blame. According to the BBC, 24 people have been arrested in raids.

Warnings Unheeded?

The BBC writes that there had been warnings about possible bomb threats from National Thowheed Jamath, at least two weeks before Sunday's attacks, according to Cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne.

Did Sri Lankan Government Know?

Senaratne said that those warnings were not given to Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe or his cabinet.

The BBC also says Wickremesinghe has "acknowledged" that the knew about the warnings but didn't act on them.
