Hilary Duff Watched 'The Lizzie McGuire Movie' With Her Kids

Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of.

Now that _Lizzie McGuire_is coming back, Hilary Duff is in full Lizzie mode.

She recently sat down and watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie with her kids and fiancé, and let me tell you —it was adorable.

Lizzie McGuire was a staple of millennial childhoods.

Her sense of style, boy problems, and best friends helped define a generation.

Or was that just me who wore her hair curled, straight, and crimped all at the same time, just because Lizzie did?

However, you know what is kind of crazy?

Disney

Even though it felt like there were endless episodes of Lizzie to be watched, the show only ran for three years.

From 2001 to 2004, we grew up with Lizzie. And, of course, we watched her on VHS when The Lizzie McGuire Movie came out.

Now, Lizzie is coming back.

Disney recently announced that they're going to continue Lizzie's story on their new streaming app, Disney+.

Hilary Duff is back on board, bringing Lizzie back as a 30-something living the life in New York.

Her life is going to be very different from how we remember it.

Living in New York, she's now working as an interior designer in Brooklyn.

She's also dating a restauranteur that owns his own restaurant in SoHo.

Man, that's a far cry from Gordo and Italy!

She sat down with her family to watch the movie recently.

And it was adorable!

She and her fiancé, Matthew Koma, gathered Hilary's two children (Luca, 7 and Banks, 11 months) in their house to watch The Lizzie McGuire Movie in all its glory.

Matthew documented the whole thing in his Instagram story.

There's a lot going on here.

First of all, we have to talk about how raptly Luca was watching the screen.

I can't imagine being 7 and seeing my mom acting in a movie. That would be so crazy.

Banks, on the other hand, was so busy watching that she won't look away to drink her water. Adorable.

Matthew also showed us what scene they were on.

"Yup," he said, making Hilary laugh.

So, given that I watched that movie about 30 times when I was a pre-teen, I feel confident in saying that this is one of the first scenes in the film, when Lizzie sings Blondie's "The Tide is High."

Hilary was having a great time.

Honestly, the mix of embarrassment and happiness was palpable, and adorable.

Look at Banks just watching her mom sing on screen! There is some good left in this world, and it's located at Hilary Duff's house.

A fan posted the video to Twitter, and Hilary's fans loved it.

Everyone was basically that crying emoji.

Also, as many pointed out, Matthew is her fiancé, not boyfriend! Hilary posted about their engagement in May, when he popped the question.

They are such a cute family.

Learning starts at home.

It's never too early to start educating your kids about the legend, icon, and star that is Lizzie McGuire.

I can't wait to show my kids that movie, if only to show them how we all used to dress in the early 2000s.

It's not even a weird flex.

It's an ultimate one.

Because Hilary was a Disney star, she has lots of material she can show her kids that is totally safe for them to consume.

Maybe she'll save Younger for when they're older.

See what I meant about her filmography?

Iconic, iconic, iconic.

Remember when a good portion of A Cinderella Story revolved around Hilary Duff's flip phone? That was a simpler, more pure time, you guys.

I super miss snapping a flip phone shut.

Okay, same.

As cute as Hilary and her kids watching the movie is, it feels like yesterday that it came out.

This is seriously what all of adulthood is like, kids. Thinking things happened really recently and then realizing you're super old.

I mean, I wouldn't go this far...

But it would be so cool to watch The Lizzie McGuire Movie with Lizzie McGuire herself.

I hope the kids made it all the way to the end. Seeing two Hilarys would have been so weird!

Well this was wholesome.

Lizzie McGuire, bringing people together since 2001.

I also feel the need to watch that movie now. After this article, I am totally going to find it online and stream the heck out of it. Because that's what dreams are made of.
