Kerry Washington Shared Her Real Phone Number On Twitter

Most celebrities try to live as private a life as possible. This typically means that giving fans their number is a giant no-no.

Yet, Kerry Washington just broke allll the rules by not only telling fans her number, but TWEETING it. As you can imagine, fans lost it.

Usually when a celebrity tweets out their *actual* number to fans, it wasn't meant to happen.

Most of the time, they were hacked or ended up tweeting it out accidentally.

Like the time Chrissy Teigen accidentally published her phone number in her "Cravings" cookbook!

The host and mom was in for quite the surprise when eagle-eyed fans managed to figure out her phone number off of her dog's collar!

Seriously.

"I have since changed it but thank you for all the kind voicemails!" she wrote in a follow-up tweet.

"But really – to all friends, I had to change my number today so please don't be mad at me for not getting back to any texts!!!!"

We bet she learned from that mistake!

Then, there was the infamous Iggy Azalea/Papa John's feud that went down in 2015.

The Australian rapper declared an all-out war on the pizza chain after one of their drivers gave out her personal phone number to people he knew.

The invasion of privacy led to texts like this one:

As you can guess, Iggy was not pleased.

She even threatened a lawsuit over the data breach. The whole mess led to the brand apologizing over the incident.

So, with these cases of celebs *not* wanting their numbers to be released, it came as a huge shock when Kerry Washington tweeted out her number.

The bold move left fans questioning whether the Scandal star had tweeted out her actual phone number.

Turns out, she did! "I know [it] sounds insane," she began in the minute-long video posted to Twitter.

"But, you know, I posted about this last week, I've been missing that TGIT love," she said, in reference to the "Thank God It's Thursday" hashtag that fans would use whenever a new episode of Scandal used to come on.

Since the show ended in 2018, Washington said that she's been missing interacting with her fans.

"We used to come together every Thursday night at the same time and the same place. And I would know where you were, you would know where I was, and we would talk about stuff that really mattered to us -- and kind of be in a community together."

"And I want to bring some of that back. Because I miss you guys, and social media is amazing but sometimes it's hard to sift through and really connect with the people who matter to you most."

She also promised to share special content to those who reach out to her.

Naturally, some fans still thought the whole thing was too good to be true.

But based on these text messages shared online, Kerry is being legit.

She's not playin'!

It doesn't seem to be a publicity move to promote her new projects, either, since they're far from release.

This includes “Little Fires Everywhere” on Hulu and the feature film “Shadow Force”.

To test the waters on this whole thing, I even texted and called the number she provided.

After several rings, I got Kerry's real voice on voicemail. She made it clear to for fans to not to leave a message since she won't be checking it.

However, she did tell fans to drop her a text since she'll be reading and responding all of those.

When you text her, you will receive this message: "Hey it's Kerry! Real quick -- click this link & sign up so I can add you to my contacts and respond to you directly. Can't wait to hear from you!"

You click the link and then provide some info to get signed up to Community.com.

According to the company: "Community enables direct, meaningful conversations at scale. It's a new way for community leaders to talk to community members - via text."

“Kerry is simply using Community to text with her fans,” a spokesperson for Community told "The Times".

They declined to say whether or not Washington's texting move was part of a paid partnership between her and the company.

So, peepz, what are you waiting for! Shoot Kerry a text.

Who knows, maybe one day you'll get a phone call asking you to join The Gladiators.

Now that truly would be the scandal of ALL scandals.
