Cheryl Burke Apologizes For 'Nasty' Comments About Former 'DWTS' Partner Ian Ziering

Look, let's be honest for a second — we've all said things we regret. Things we wish we could take back. Things that don't reflect how we truly feel about someone. Luckily for most of us, however, our words and actions aren't caught on camera, or recorded in an interview.

Now, Dancing with the Star's professional dancer Cheryl Burke is apologizing for some not-so-nice remarks she made about the lovely Ian Ziering back in the day.

*Dancing with the Stars* has been one of my favouite TV shows since it premiered, what... 100 years ago?

While the show has been through many changes, the concept has remained the same — a celebrity (or a has-been, let's be real) and a professional dancer team up to compete while fans at home vote for their favorite pair.

It's a show dancing pro Cheryl Burke knows very well. She has been on every single season since she joined the cast in season 2!

For context, the show is on its 29th season! Over that time, Cheryl has had *a lot* of partners.

Naturally, the 36-year-old is going to get along with some better than others.

As fans may recall, Cheryl had some pretty harsh comments about her least favorite partner, BH. 90210 star Ian Ziering, back in 2016. As fans may recall, the partners made it to the semifinal on season 4 in 2007.

Speaking about Ian, Cheryl said:

"That’s the true colors that they didn’t show on Dancing with the Stars .… Think of spending time with that for, like, eight to 10 hours a day, seven days a week, for three months," she said during an episode of "Allegedly" after the podcast hosts had expressed their dislike for the actor in April 2016.

"It made me want to slit my wrists," she added.

"I was, like, crying to the executives. I was like, ‘Is there any way to please just eliminate us?’ They’re like, ‘We can’t. We can’t do that.’ And I swear, every time I asked, we just kept going. We would last till the end."

Now, Cheryl is apologizing for the remarks she made five years ago.

On Sunday's episode of the pro dancer's Pretty Messed Up podcast, she said she regrets what she said about Ian.

"The one thing I truly regret and want to make amends with is Ian Ziering," she told her co-host AJ McLean, as per People.

"I was completely out of line a few years ago, and I did a podcast where they were asking me who my favorite partner was and who did I hate the most. And I answered Ian Ziering, and I said something along the lines of 'I'd rather slit my wrists than dance with Ian Ziering again.'"

"I truly am so sorry for being so inconsiderate and just talking trying to get a reaction and putting him as my punching bag really," she added.

"I took it to that next level of nastiness. I was so nasty. And I'm here to publicly apologize to Ian and his family. I lost a lot of respect for myself."

Cheryl concluded, "It haunts me till this day."

In a video posted to her social media accounts the same day, Cheryl expanded on her apology and explained the interview about Ian happened "before I got sober."

"We’re all worthy of growth but first, we have to be able to be honest with ourselves and if needed, make amends with people from our past," she wrote on Instagram.
