If you're like me, you're looking for Pottery Barn products on a dollar store budget.
Luckily for both of us, TikTok is full of people who want to teach us how to achieve that effortlessly chic look on a strict budget. Take this Pottery Barn vase hack: it's easy, genius, and will save you tons of money!
I mean, as lovely as this color block jar is, I'm definitely not going to pull my wallet out and pay $149 for it.
TikTok user @diy.my.way had the same thought — so she decided to DIY it herself.
For this DIY, you'll only need the very basics. Grab a glass vase, some painter's tape, and a spray paint of your choice. I would recommend a primer and a sealer, as well.
Thrift stores are the best places to find hidden gems. The stuff there is infinitely upcycle-able, and you don't have to pay big box store prices to hone your DIY skills.
This part shouldn't be too hard. When you get to where the paint meets the tape, focus on getting the tape as flush to the glass as possible. You know you want that crisp paint line, y'all.
You cannot do it all in one go. Spray paint drips so easily, guys!
Hold your can at least 10 inches from your vase and spray in slow, thin bursts. Do a few coats until it's even.
She finished the vase off with a coat of sealant that actually frosted the glass! I love that look, tbh. It's so chic.
The vase looks amazing and was at least a 1/5th the cost of the Pottery Barn one.
The vase was $1.99 and the paint was $3.25. Factoring in the satin finish sealant and the paint, I'd put this DIY at about $10.
So, I was wrong about it being 1/5th of the Pottery Barn price. It's 1/15th!
If your tape peel isn't as crisp as you'd like, grab a bit of Goo Gone and a Q-tip and get it all fixed up! I can 100% confirm this hack works.
And none of them will cost you what Pottery Barn wants for it! Love you, PB, but $150 for a mass-produced glass jar is just not the tea.
