Today's Good Vibes—Woman Leaves Loving Notes Around For Boyfriend With Depression To Find

If you've dealt with mental illness, then you know how hard it can sometimes be to just get out of bed and face the world. You also know how much more difficult it can be when you have loved ones that just don't understand.

Which is probably why this Twitter thread by @AshciR has struck such a chord with people.

He starts by explaining that he has seasonal depression.

So when his girlfriend was going to be away for a bit, she made sure to keep his spirits up while she was gone.

Throughout his apartment, she left him hidden notes.

Some were simply meant to remind him that she loved him, like this one left right on the floor by the front door.

Others were simply funny.

Like a note in the shower about looking at his junk.

For just black marker, that's a pretty decent eggplant.

Some even had instructions about when he should open them.

That way, even if he found them all on the first day, she could ensure he'd enjoy them for longer.

Seriously, dude, you've got yourself a great partner with her.

What a lot of well-meaning people don't understand about depression is that when you're in the depths of it, you can't just "muscle through it," or "cheer up."

Often, the best thing for you to do is support the person through their episode.

Make sure they know they are loved and people are thinking about them, and maybe gently point them in the direction of healthy food choices or the shower when their depression causes them to forget basic hygiene.
