Julianne Hough Opens Up About Telling Her Husband That She's 'Not Straight'

Julianne Hough is one boss betch. From dancing to acting to changing the world, girlfriend refuses to stop.

In her latest interview with Women's Health, Julianne recalls the time she let her hockey player husband Brooks Laich in on a little secret: She's not straight.

In an interview with "Women's Health", Julianna Hough got real.

She revealed that that entire year was the start of what she called a “massive transformation.”

She started off by sharing that she has been "delayer-ing" with a new workout method called "Kingry".

“I’ve been de-layering all the survival tactics I’ve built up my whole life,” she said. “Now, I feel limitless."

Kingry is essentially a “high-sensory activated dance method,” she clarified.

Which sounds super bougie, doesn't it?

“Dance is my superpower, and it has been my whole life, but I didn’t even know it,” she said.

She recalled some of her Instagram followers telling her they wanted to dance just like her.

“What does that even mean?," she said.

“I have no boundaries when I dance,” she continued. Which is exactly what sparked the original idea of Kingry.

“The minute that happened, everything shifted for me,” she remembered.

She went on, explaining that she hopes the dance-cardio workouts are helping others as well.

“When I think about what I want to create, I want to help people connect back to their truest self,” she said.

“When that happens, they can relate to the people around them with no filter".

"Experience the world how we’re supposed to experience it—in its most pure form, which I believe is love.”

With that massive transformation, she worried that her husband was going to have get reacquainted with the new Julianne.

“I was connecting to the woman inside that doesn’t need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me,” she recalled.

"But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me."

"Now we have a more intimate relationship," she said.

The new-found intimacy eventually led to Julianne opening up to her husband about the realities of her sexuality, that she had never shared with him before.

“I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?,'" she began.

"I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you,’” she recalled.

“I think there’s a safety with my husband now that I’m unpacking all of this," she continued.

She said that she believes her initial feelings of shame or guilt about disclosing this information sooner may have stemmed from how she was raised.

Which is (sadly) super common for many people!

Thankfully, Julianne has worked through those hangups.

She continued "There’s no fear of voicing things that I’ve been afraid to admit or that I’ve had shame or guilt about because of what I’ve been told or how I was raised.”

“I was like, ‘Is he going to love this version of me?’"

"But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me."

“I’m going to shift for the rest of my life,” she said.

“I’m not like, ‘Oh, I got it.’ But I’m trusting myself now, and when I’m totally connected to me, I feel full."

"I want others to see that in themselves."
