Couple Constantly Late For Work Catch Cat Turning Their Alarm Off

Unless you're that rare breed of morning person, the hardest part of the day is getting your butt out of bed and getting on with the matter of paying the bills. The bed is so comfy and warm, and sleep still wants to be slept. But the getting up still has to be done, though.

And as most pet owners out there know, our little fuzzy friends seldom make it easier.

In my house, the cats are the alarm clock.

There is a zero percent chance of sleeping late because the cats want to be fed now, now, right now, now, not later, now, and they've got the bladder-seeking paws to inspire us on those mornings when the bed is a little too comfy.

So, color me surprised to find out that there are cats out there who actually want their owners to stay in bed.

One couple in Brazil has an excuse for the ages for being late for work — and the video evidence to back it up.

The pair had been sleeping late despite setting an alarm on their phone, making them late on an unusually regular basis, and they were at a loss to explain how it kept happening.

Naturally, they had to do something about it for fear of losing their jobs.

So, they decided to set their phone alarm off and film what happened next.

And, as soon as it started ringing and vibrating, their cat, Joaquim, got up from his cozy perch and made his way over to the bedside table the phone sat on. Joaquim jumped up on the table and, pawing at the phone, managed to get the alarm to turn off.

It's not clear whether the cat snoozed the alarm or turned it off altogether.

Either way, Joaquim clearly wasn't ready for his owners to get out of bed and leave him alone for the day. Maybe that's the ultimate compliment, but it's also not the most convenient thing in the world for people just trying to get to work on time.

If nothing else, at least they have a sense of humor about it.

You can hear Joaquim's owners giggling and laughing when they discover their furry friend has been sabotaging their morning routine — and really, you have to laugh about something like that, right?
