Police Discover Newborn Baby In Plastic Bag In Gut-Wrenching Video

Unfortunately, what seems like a blessing to some people can be regarded as a curse by others.

In an ideal world, those who try for years to get pregnant would have their bundle of joy come more easily to them than those who know the stresses of an unplanned pregnancy.

However, we know the world is far from ideal and the sudden arrival of a new baby can lead to a situation desperate enough that some people might feel compelled to do the unthinkable.

Be warned, because the full video shows exactly what "the unthinkable" is. It contains graphic imagery that be disturb viewers.

The man shown here on the side of Daves Creel Road in Forsyth County, Gerogia had heard some unusual crying noises from his home.

As he explained to police in the video, he had thought it came from an animal, while his children believed it to be a baby's cry.

When the man discovered the sound was coming from a plastic bag, he contacted authorities.

Soon after arriving, a member of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department ripped open the bag to discover that the man's children had been correct.

Indeed, a crying newborn baby girl who police would later code name "Baby India" was inside the bag.

Before calling the baby's status in, the officer tried to comfort her, saying "Oh, look at you, sweetheart. I'm so sorry."

As Baby India was moved from the bag, it became clear that she was still covered in blood and had her umbilical cord attached.

She is reportedly "thriving," but police are still trying to determine any information about her birth or family, with particular efforts underway to locate the mother.

It's unclear whether the mother will face any charges if located, but the sheriff's office reminded the public that Georgia has a Safe Haven law.

As they explain in the full video description, this means a mother can leave a baby of up to 30 days old with an employee at a hospital, police station, fire station, institutional infirmary, health center or birthing center without fear of prosecution.

The sheriff's office has released the full video in the hopes that it will lead them to credible information of the baby's identity.

They also intended to show "how important it is to find closure in this case" and urge anyone with information to call this number: 770-888-7308.
