A Conspiracy Theory Inspired Russia To Make Their Own ‘Chernobyl’ Show

Chernobyl really took over the world in such a short amount of time.

The show is based on the major nuclear disaster, and it has become the highest rated television show of all time.

Chernobyl beat out HBO's 'Breaking Bad' and 'Game of Thrones'.

HBO

That's some serious ratings.

The show can be very graphic, but it's extremely well shot and done.

But Russia isn't too happy with it.

In fact, they're pretty pissed about it, despite the obvious success of the show.

The Moscow Times reported that newspapers that are pro-government think the show is a joke.

HBO

The exact words used, actually, are “a caricature”.

This is all pretty interesting considering the success of the show.

HBO

This includes the success it had in Russia.

But now, Russia wants to make their own version...

It will be airing on the network NTV.

HBO

They are taking the leap and are going to create their own Chernobyl series.

I'm genuinely interested, tbh.

The Moscow Times has listed all the details.

HBO

“Russia’s NTV channel has already announced that it is shooting its own ‘Chernobyl’ series based on the premise that the CIA sent an agent to the Chernobyl zone to carry out acts of sabotage,” the Moscow Times report reads.

It's actually based on a conspiracy theory!

HBO

“One theory holds that Americans had infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and many historians do not deny that, on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy’s intelligence services was present at the station,” the report continues.

Will you be watching the Russia version of the show?

HBO

It'll be very interesting to compare and contrast, that's for sure.
