Turns out, we've been pronouncing Chrissy Teigen's name wrong all this time — and I have never felt more stupid.
And poor Chrissy has just been putting up with it, allowing everyone to call her something that isn't even her name.
Turns out, we've been pronouncing Chrissy Teigen's name wrong all this time — and I have never felt more stupid.
And poor Chrissy has just been putting up with it, allowing everyone to call her something that isn't even her name.
She took to Twitter to try and correct everyone, but there's no use. The ship has sailed.
She has let this go on for too long!
Anyone with a name that is regularly mispronounced felt this on a deeper level.
Imagine living your entire life having to correct people every time they say your last name.
It's exhausting.
This person tweeted, in shock, apologizing on behalf of everyone that's been saying her last name incorrectly all these years — begging for forgiveness.
She revealed that she gave up a long time ago on trying to correct people and simply accepted her new last name was "tee-gen".
But to be fair, at some point she probably just stopped trying to fight it and accepted that "tee-gen" was her last name whether she liked it or not.
With confirmation from her mom in the background, so we know it's real.
Having to relearn a name that you've been so used to calling somebody isn't an easy thing to do.
This person tweeted that they're going to have to rewire their brain because of this.
Question everything, people!
Take Ariana Grande, for instance.
You probably read her last name in your head "gron-day", right?
Well, you're wrong.
But she explained that when her family immigrated to America, they wanted to Americanize their last name.
She explained that her brother was the first one to suggest they start going by "gron-day" instead of "gran-dee" because he thought it sounded more fun that way — and it stuck.
She then revealed her full given name.
"Literally, my name is like 'Ariana Grande-Butera!'" she said with a fake Italian accent. "Literally, that's my name. I'm like a pizza. I'm a [expletive] meatball."
Let this serve as a lesson. Everything you've ever known to be true could be shattered at a moments notice.
Chrissy "tee-gen" is Chrissy "tie-gen" and Ariana "gron-day" is Ariana "gran-dee".
This will probably take a few days to process.
Let's be honest. We'll probably continue to pronounce their last names the wrong way. But at least we know the truth!
