Gay Couple Starts 'Throuple' With Another Man After Threesome

For many people, the idea of a threesome can be intimidating enough without the prospect of getting an entire relationship out of the deal. It's no secret that relationships can be a lot of work, and keeping just one person emotionally and physically satisfied can often be enough of a challenge without introducing a third person.

And yet, sometimes all the chips fall in a way that makes a three-person arrangement seem like the best option in the world.

And for three Australian men, that seems to be how they fell.

In the seven years they've spent together, 28-year-old Thomas Fennemore (left) and 32-year-old Jonny have built a strong relationship.

The couple from Adelaide were planning on getting married when they took what they thought was just a vacation to Perth.

But, things got a little more interesting when they got tho Perth and met 29-year-old Anthony.

As Thomas told The Mirror, "We were staying in the same hotel and came across him in the elevator and later logged into a local gay dating website to see if we could find him - and we did."

Both Thomas and Jonny thought he was "gorgeous."

After they ran into Anthony at their hotel's bar, they would eventually have a threesome in the couple's room.

As Thomas said, "None of it was planned, and we thought it was just casual sex, but it turned into a lot more than that."

But at the time, they figured they wouldn't see each other again.

This was because Anthony was in Perth on business and actually lives in Sydney, which is a two-hour-flight and 14-hour drive from Adelaide.

There's also the fact that up until they met him, neither partner had any real polyamorous inclinations.

As Thomas told The Mirror, "We had watched random documentaries about it and thought, 'Good for them, but it’s not for us'."

However, they stayed in contact with Anthony through WhatsApp and ended up meeting again in Adelaide back in July 2018.

They had another threesome, but although all of them felt a deeper connection to each other this time around, they didn't quite admit it yet.

Anthony had also never been in a polyamorous relationship before, but by August, the couple asked if he wanted to date them and he came clean, saying he had fallen for them too.

Since they saw each other as equal members of the relationship, they initially set ground rules for how they would have sex.

For the first six months, they would only do it as a "throuple," but this ended up becoming frustrating with so much distance between them. Plus, their moods for it didn't always sync up.

So, they starting having sex as the feeling occurs, which means that — for instance — Jonny and Anthony could sleep together without Thomas.

As far as Thomas is concerned, such situations don't make him feel "an ounce of jealousy" and if anything, having a third person involved has made what small arguments do exist easier to resolve.

As Thomas said, "If either of us argue with each other, there's always another person to go to and ask for help, or just a person to mediate and calm a situation - which works perfectly."

They've also said that when they go out, they seem more like a group of friends than a "throuple."

Thomas said, "Throuple relationships are so obscure and out of the norm that no-one assumes we're together. This means we never feel judged or shut-in when we all want to go on a dinner date."

Lately, Thomas and Jonny have considered moving to Sydney to be with Anthony and are also hoping that future laws will allow the three to get married together. Even if they did, they'd want to know Anthony better first.
