Margot Robbie To Star In The New 'Female Fronted' 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Film

Many of us grew up on the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, and it's easy to see why these films were so popular — hilarious, charming, and lovable characters alongside an engaging and fun plot that wasn't afraid to get a bit weird? That sounds like a recipe for success in my books.

But it is a recipe that can be replicated?

There's a new *Pirates Of The Caribbean* film in development.

Actually, there's two — a reboot of the original series being created by Ted Elliot and Chernobyl creator Crag Mazin was already announced, but now there's news that we'll be getting a totally independent "female-fronted" installment in the Pirates universe.

Longtime producer of the *Pirates* franchise Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both of these films.

It's now been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Margot Robbie is set to star in the new series that will be written by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.

Now that's what I call a dream team!

Fans are pretty excited about this news.

"I haven't cared for Pirates of the Caribbean in ages. But Margot Robbie as the lead? Oh girl. I'm already getting hot and bothered at the thought of her as a badass pirate flirting with the ladies! Swoon alert!" tweeted one fan.

Some people have their doubts, but fans have been quick to point out Margot's track record.

"I say let's see where this goes before we condemn it to the realms of a failed film, can't judge a film without anything to judge and besides Margot Robbie is definitely an excellent pick to play a quirky, eccentric pirate, also look at Birds Of Prey, that turned out pretty good," one fan said.
