Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Are Starring In A Homemade 'Princess Bride' Remake

Sometimes when we hear our favorite classic movies are getting remade, we can be a little afraid of the result, since we don't want a bad redo to taint our fond memories of the original. However, sometimes those remakes are just wacky enough to really be fun, and it looks like a Quibi remake of The Princess Bride might just be one of those.

*The Princess Bride* is a beloved classic.

When the film was announced as streaming on Disney+, fans all over the world were extremely excited, and many of those fans were actors themselves.

It makes sense then that in tribute, some of these celebrities might want to participate in a homemade remake of their own.

Streaming service Quibi has announced an entirely homemade version of the film.

This remake was shot entirely at-home by each cast member using their cell phone cameras. Starting June 29, chapters of this homemade film will be released onto the streaming platform over the next two weeks.

There are some surprising casting twists.

Joe Jonas will be playing Princess Buttercup, the role originally played by Robin Wright. Joe's wife, actress Sophie Turner will be replacing Cary Elwes as Westley.

A corgi will make an appearance as the "Rodent of Unusual Size" and LEGO Minifigures and stuffed animals will reportedly stand in for crowded scenes.

Director Jason Reitman, who also directed _Juno_, explained why he decided to helm the project.

"I just thought, Can we remake an entire movie at home? And I had seen that a fan-made Star Wars had been done," he said. "I just started reaching out to actors I knew, saying, ‘Is this something you’d want to do?’ And the response was kind of immediate and fast. It was like, ‘Oh—that sounds like fun.’" Reitman said to Vanity Fair.

It's all for a good cause.

Quibi will donate $1 million in honor of the project to World Central Kitchen, a charity that sends meals to those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
