Summer 2020 Movies Finally Have New Release Dates

Summer 2020 is shaping up to be better than expected.

With theatres reopening all over the world, this means that a lot of highly-anticipated Hollywood flicks are coming to a theatre near you.

The entertainment industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus since the very start.

In addition to many celebrities testing positive for the virus, many major motion pictures that were scheduled to release in theatres this summer were forced to postpone.

This led box office ticket sales to make history by hitting a 20-year low.

As hard as that is, the good news is that it's all about to change.

With coronavirus numbers down and the world slowly opening up again, theaters have been given the green light to reopen their doors.

*Unhinged* - JUL. 1, 2020

The road rage thriller starring Russell Crowe is actually the first movie to be released in theatres this summer.

It had an original release date of September 4th, but that all changed when A Quiet Place Part II landed on the date. Now, you can catch it in theatres on July 1.

*Tenet* - JUL. 17, 2020

This is the big-budget thriller from director Christopher Nolan (most known for The Dark Night, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkrik).

The film, starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki, will be released in theatres on July 17.

*Mulan* - JUL. 24, 2020

The highly-anticipated live-action film was the first Disney film to be postponed due to the coronavirus. Black Widow followed suit soon after.

Fans can finally experience the magic when it's released in theatres on July 24th.

*Wonder Woman 1984* - OCT. 2, 2020

Fans won't have to wait much longer to see Gal Gadot (Diana Prince) and Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) on the big screen once again.

After being pushed back twice the scheduled release date is now Oct 2, 2020.

*Black Widow* - NOV. 6, 2020

It's been a long time coming for Natasha Romanoff to have her own stand-alone Marvel film.

The movie, starring Scarlett Johansson, was originally set to release on May 1, but it's since been pushed back to November 6, 2020.

*F9* - APRIL 2, 2021

The latest film in the Fast and Furious franchise was one of the first films to be postponed when the coronavirus started.

It's been postponed by 11 months, going from a release date of May 22 to April 2, 2021.

*A Quiet Place 2* - SEPT. 4, 2020

The highly-anticipated sequel to The Quiet Place, starring husband and wife, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, has been delayed until Sept 4, 2020.

Since the movie originally didn't have a new release date, things could get pushed back again.

*Candyman* - SEPT. 25, 2020

The Nia DaCosta-directed (and Jordan Peele-produced) reboot of the horror franchise was scheduled to be released on June 12, but it's been pushed back to September 25, 2020.

*Top Gun: Maverick* - DEC. 23, 2020

The sequel to the 1986 action hit finally returns to theatres after 34 years.

After the June 24 release date was postponed, fans will get an early Christmas present when it arrives in theatres on December 23, 2020.

*In The Heights* - JUNE 18, 2021

You'll be dancing your way to the theatre as soon as this film from director Jon M. Chu releases on June 18, 2021.

It's his adaptation on the Tony-winning 2008 musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes.

*Ghostbusters: Afterlife* - MARCH 5, 2021

Finally, a Ghostbusters remake worth waiting for.

Fans can catch Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, and three of the original ghostbusters (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson) in theatres on March 5, 2021.

Who you gonna call... to go see the movie with you?

*Jungle Cruise* - JULY 30, 2021

Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in a movie together.

The Disney park attraction-turned-movie was originally supposed to release in theatres on July 24, 2020, but that's since been pushed back to July 30, 2021.
