Mel Gibson Says Winona Ryder 'Lied' About Claims Of Anti-Semitic, Homophobic Comments

There are some stories about celebrity feuds that really bring you back in time. Forget Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, we're going back to the eighties and nineties, because Winona Ryder and Mel Gibson are the center of some heated drama involving whether or not Gibson made homophobic and anti-Semitic remarks to Ryder in the past.

Winona Ryder has made some pretty strong claims about Mel Gibson.

Ryder said that while "at a crowded party with one of [her] good friends" in a new interview with The Sunday Times that "Mel Gibson was smoking a cigar, and we're all talking and he said to my friend, who's gay 'Oh wait, am I gonna get AIDS?'"

Ryder, who is Jewish, then alleged that Gibson made an anti-Semitic joke at her expense.

Ryder said that, "And then something came up about Jews, and he said 'You're not an oven dodger, are you?'"

Ryder then expressed that Gibson had tried to apologize to her at a later date.

However, a statement from Gibson's representatives is claiming Ryder is lying.

"This is 100% untrue. She lied about it over a decade ago, when she talked to the press, and she’s lying about it now. Also, she lied about him trying to apologize to her back then," their statement says.

Gibson's rep then says that the actor had attempted to reach out to Ryder regarding this in the past.

"He did reach out to her, many years ago, to confront her about her lies and she refused to address it with him."

Ryder has insisted that the events happened, describing the events as "a painful and vivid memory."

Ryder had previously mentioned the comments she alleges Gibson in a GQ interview.

In a 2010 GQ interview, Winona had mentioned Gibson making a homophobic joke and had specifically referenced the "oven dodger" line.
