JoJo Siwa's Makeup Kit Got Pulled From Shelves For Containing Asbestos

If you were hoping to get your hands on JoJo Siwa's latest makeup kit then I have some bad news for you.

The FDA made a frightening discovery that's getting the product pulled from shelves.

If you're someone who has or babysits kids then you've probably heard of JoJo Siwa.

The 16-year-old YouTuber is a major star in the world of children's entertainment at the moment.

She currently has nearly 10 million followers and she has loads of merch for sale from her colorful bows to lunch kits.

You might also recognize her from her early dance years.

Siwa's first brush with fame was when she became a top-5 finalist on season 2 of Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition.

She later went on to join the cast of reality show Dance Moms as part of the ACLU dance competition team.

One of Siwa's recent financial pursuits hit a snag by way of the Federal Drug Association.

Her youth-geared JoJo Siwa Makeup Set (Batch/Lot No. S180109) was being sold at Claire's accessories and cosmetics stores when it got recalled.

On June 6th, the FDA released new results that the kits contain asbestos and that people should stop using the product immediately.

Yikes!

Asbestos is a variety of 6 toxic minerals that were used for decades in commercial products.

Over the years, asbestos use dropped significantly due to its potentially harmful effects.

According to the CDC, frequent exposure to asbestos can lead to life-threatening diseases such as lung cancer and mesothelioma.

Claire's responded to the recall by releasing a statement.

The company has maintained that their products are safe but that they "voluntarily recalled the JoJo Cosmetic Kit out of an abundance of caution."

"Claire’s stands behind the safety of this item and all other Claire’s cosmetic items, as such small trace amounts are considered acceptable under European and Canadian cosmetic safety regulations," the statement read.

Here's what some people had to say about the recall.

"This is so heartbreaking to see this because tons of little girls that have used your merchandise. Release a statement and own up to your mistakes," one person tweeted.

Another wrote, "Ok at this point it’s not @itsjojosiwa it’s Clair’s, between their ear-piercing scandals, and asbestos filled makeup wtf is going on. This is KIDS makeup?!?!"

So far Siwa's team hasn't released any kind of statement about the matter.

Which makes sense to me seeing as this recall technically isn't her fault and has very little to do with her.

Plus, Claire's will be offering full refunds to anyone who purchased the product to make up for the error.

Now let's wait and see if the FDA is going to call out those suspect-looking Jaclyn Hill lipsticks.
