Can I just say how much I love the trend of people taking pets with special needs into their homes?
Maybe it's always been a thing, but the internet allows people to share the stories of their very special pets, bringing more awareness to it and maybe encouraging more people to do the same.
It's simply that many people don't want to "deal" with the extra work or potential costs — my pupper was the last of his litter due to a hernia that was easily repaired when he was neutered.
When the gossip mill said that there was a kitten brought in with four ears, Georgina wanted to see him for herself.
"He would have been in a lot of pain," Georgina told The Dodo in 2018, "but the first thing he did when I picked him up was purr and rub his face on mine."
She immediately offered to foster him when he recovered from surgery.
Usually, he just goes by Frankie.
It took only one night for Georgina to decide that Frankie was going to stay with her permanently. After fostering more than 80 cats and kittens, he was her first "foster fail."
As with any four-eared cats, Frankie has a risk of other deformities, but besides a prominent overbite that could require future dental work, he's healthy and energetic.
And he's best friends with his mixed forever family of cats and dogs.
Frankie is just another example of an animal that could have missed out on a wonderful life due to his physical deformities, but instead he was taken in by a human who gave him a chance to show how sweet he is.
